TigerFish offers a look at refugees’ challenges
“TigerFish chronicles Truong’s childhood in Vietnam, and her experience of acculturation as a refugee in America. Her work offers poignant passages through the eyes of a teenager. Readers will witness the Vietnam War, the Vietnamese diaspora and the jarring acculturation process that ensued — all from the author’s deeply personal and honest perspective.”
Commendable Memoir of the refugee experience
“In her remarkable debut novel, Tigerfish [is] beautifully and honestly written, it will no doubt resonate with many who have faced similar circumstances, out of their control, and survived to share their experiences with younger generations.” -Brydie Wright. Author at brydiewright.com
A powerful Coming of Age Story Of Fear, Sacrifice, and Survival
“I felt as if I was experiencing every moment alongside the author in this powerful memoir. The vivid imagery and historical notes will move you through the story as if you have somehow stepped back in time… Tiger Fish serves as a strong reminder as to why we should continue to advocate for peace and love across the globe … Tiger Fish is definitely a must-read!” -Briana Marie of theblueoptimist.com
Excellent!
“This is one of those books that can take you to places you’ve never been… Wonderfully told as a letter to her children, the author permeates both historical information as well as personal triumphs and tragedies… Her descriptions bring the environments and characters to life. You may even find yourself tasting the foods she writes about.
What a wonderful ‘coming of age’ story during such a violent and turbulent time. High praises and highly recommended reading!” -Michael Chrobak. Author at michaelchrobakauthor.com
